ABOUT
Keith and Sharon Feister have a lifetime of experience in the horse industry. Brighstone Ranch, established in 2004, is a natural outgrowth of their passion for performance horses. Through the years their focus has been on breeding and stallion management, often providing them with the opportunity to work alongside some of the top reproductive experts in the country.
Through the early part of his career. Keith spent nearly 30 years working in the Standardbred industry in the eastern US. For Over 25 of those years he managed the breeding operations at farms such as Kosmos Horse Breeders, Perretti Farms, and Winbank Farms. There he personally managed and developed the careers of a number of leading sires in the Standardbred world. He also oversaw the large broodmare bands on these farms, which numbered more than 500 mares. His careful management of these mares consistently paid off with conception rates up to 93%.
It was during this time he had the opportunity to work closely with nationally acclaimed frozen semen specialists and was involved with the very first transport of frozen semen to Sweden, Norway, Germany, Finland, and Austria.
In the early 1990's cutting horses caught Keith's attention, and as with most people, it didn't take long before he was hooked. Early in 1997, while still living in Deleware, he and Sharon purchased their first cutting stallion Dualin Gun a son of Dual Pep out Miss Silver Pistol, the all-time leading offspring of Docs Hickory. Through the late 1990's and into the turn of the century Dualin Gun became the cornerstone of their performance horse breeding operation.
From that early success, the Feister's have continued to build adding more stallions and their program has continued to see tremendous growth. Their move to Texas in 2004 was prompted by the desire to be closer to the center of the performance horse world. But it was prefaced by two years of searching for just the right place to locate their new breeding center. Today, Brightstone Ranch operates out of Valley View, Texas. The original facility built by Keith & Sharon was located in Gainesville, Texas. North Texas is the epicenter for equine training and breeding centers for reining, cutting, and reined cowhorses making Brightstone Services conveniently located to top breeders and trainers.
The goal for Keith and Sharon with Brighstone Ranch is to provide their customers with a personalized stallion and broodmare management program to fit each individual client's needs and goals while utilizing the foundation of their extensive experience within the industry, attention to detail, and diverse networks across disciplines and breeds.
